Choose a reusable swim nappy using your child’s weight and current fit, not age alone. Children of the same age can have very different waist, thigh and rise measurements.
Sarah-Jane Collection size guide
| Size | Approximate weight range |
|---|---|
| Standard | 4.5–12 kg |
| Large | 10–18 kg |
The 10–12 kg overlap is intentional. A smaller child may still have a broader waist or thighs, while another child may remain comfortable in the standard size for longer.
When should I choose the standard size?
Start with standard when your child is between approximately 4.5 kg and 12 kg and the nappy fastens securely without digging into the waist or legs.
When should I choose the large size?
Consider large when your child is between approximately 10 kg and 18 kg, is close to outgrowing the standard size or needs more room around the waist, thighs or rise.
How should a swim nappy fit?
- Secure around the waist without obvious gaps.
- Snug around both legs without digging into the skin.
- High enough through the rise to cover comfortably.
- Evenly fastened on both sides.
- Comfortable enough for kicking, crawling and movement.
A nappy that is too loose may not help contain solids effectively. A nappy that leaves deep marks or restricts movement is too tight.
How do the nine front studs work?
The studs adjust the rise:
- Fasten the top and bottom rows together for the shortest setting.
- Use the top and middle rows as your child grows.
- Leave the rise fully open for the tallest setting.
Adjust the waist studs evenly on both sides and recheck the fit whenever your child grows.
Can a newborn wear a reusable swim nappy?
The standard Sarah-Jane Collection size begins at approximately 4.5 kg. Whether and when your baby should enter a pool depends on their individual circumstances and the rules of the swimming facility, so follow relevant professional and facility guidance.
What if my child is between sizes?
Use current fit as the deciding factor. If the standard size is on its largest settings, feels tight or has insufficient rise, move to large. If large leaves gaps around the waist or legs, standard is likely the better fit for now.
